Those double "t"s are hard for me in that font... since I also read Greek, it always looks like a π and I read the words with a "p" sound (English is not my mother language, so it's all foreign to me mixing together :/ ). Lots of mapers going on.

Damn, you'd think spitting venom is the type of thing you'd want to warn her about ahead of time.
It's probably a good thing she doesn't have a love interest. Imagine leaning in for a kiss and then bam point blank spitting cobra powers ACTIVATION!
That's truly nasty, it's really ruin on situation.

I want to root for her, but it's so hard to do so when I know she was pressured into this job. She may not be particularly introverted, but this is still very much something she didn't want to do and was pushed into. It makes it really difficult to enjoy seeing her fight so hard when it's something she shouldn't be fighting in the first place.

Her friend forcibly closing Ruri's mouth just as she was about to breathe fire could have had nasty consequences.

Since it has been shown before that her own fire can seriously damage her own mouth if she breaths her fire wrong.

Either her friend's hands could have been torched, or Ruri may have had serious internal burns.

Good thing this isn't some edgy gore mangaka.
The reason why the fire hurt her the first time was because her throat wasn't part dragon yet

Yeah. This turns into a typical animanga plot where you can clearly see the toxicity and problematic nature but the characters easily ignore everything as if these things are completely normal. Although maybe the author, on the contrary, wants to reveal the essence of this at the end of the arc.

well, didn't she get a fire resistant throat after the first time she breathed fire.

You could tell it's not vomit because it didn't sparkle.

I wonder if this is a stress reaction from going along with everyone just telling her she needs to do this kind of stuff without really being given a choice otherwise.

To be fair, if it's VENOM and not POISON, it's not harmful to anyone unless it enters their bloodstream. So unless Ruri legit bites someone (and hard enough to break skin), or someone with an open cut rubs it on the venom, it's just...kind of a gross thing she produces when stressed out.

I wonder if her swalllowing that fire breath is responsible for this, like she accidentally ruptured a venom sack she didn't know she had.

Edit: Actually, now that I think of it, this appears to be the first time Ruri has shown she can breath fire on demand. Originally she had no control, and then after practice and effort got to the point where she could realize when it was going to happen so she didn't scorch someone. The fact she actually looked to go and breath fire because she wanted to is at least as big as the venom to me.

  1. Horns
  2. Fire Breathing
  3. Electrostatic Discharge
  4. Lizard-like Eyes
  5. Venom
Did I miss anything?
Eyes and Horns count as one since they showed up at the same time.

if we assume proper utilization of Chekhov's gun, Ruri mockingly called Yuka a goddess. Considering she caught a dragon's breath and didnt need to handle burns, apparently Yuka being a demigoddess is still on the table.
Kume asked what we all wanted to know. I'm dead curious on how did Ruri's Mom "wrestle the dragon" 😳
Aoki the Dragonslayer is very athletic and stretchy. Im more interested in whether the Umbrella Katana got involved.

A quick reminder that this series is more of a rewrite than a translation. Don't pay too close attention to the exact words being used.

Yes, we are well aware you dont know how to interpolate japanese to english, the differences in humor focused primarily on puns vs absurdism, the completely different construction of sarcasm, and the more metaphorical vs technical nature of words within each.

Ruri still called Yuka a Kami in an exaggerated thankyou. Yuka just caught a dragonbreath without needing medical attention.

I don't know how we got to me. But anyway, don't pay too much attention to the words. They don't really match the original script.

Venom? Isn't the father like really huge? And has lighting and fire breathing? Why would he even need venom?
Also feels like we will reach the limit of 9 really quick, so maybe she will have more that 9 traits?

Hey, venom's better than poison, at least. As long as it doesn't get into any open wounds or orifices you're relatively safe. Ruri, herself, on the other hand...
