Well, that may have some potential to happen now, with the reveal in this chap that the dragon powers are meant for combat with other dragons.

I hope it doesn't turn into a shounen full of action, it being a slice is what makes it good, you can work on these aspects in a more serious way but without pushing it in that direction

It's actually now proven that Komodo dragons have a venom sack in their lower jaw. Not because of bacteria. Studys show that Komodo dragons mouths are actually quite clean sometimes cleaner than mammals and it's due to the environment that people would get nasty bacteria. This was tested via lab, zoo and wild Komodo dragons.
