Her mother said the debt was illegal, and without that, they have nothing on him. So he could've refused. He didn't have the spine to do it, but he could've. But at least to me it felt like he did prefer at least most of the deal over rejecting it.What decision? The MC was literally threatened into accepting whatever they demanded of him (right after "saving" him). He's a pushover who deluded himself that he was given any choice to begin with.
I mean, it wasn't much of a threat. 'If you say no, then you have to be my butler!' As if he couldn't just say no to that as well. She may have taken care of that debt, but she doesn't really have any power going forward."I might have made a life-changing decision"

This would have a ton more potential if the MC had agency and didn't just go with the flow.

I think it would've been better to reject the deal, and then ask her to make a personal request, without any pressure behind it. He's still have accepted that, but it'd be a much more fair proposition.
The debt was illegal but they settled it with money. They are powerful and are using their power and influence to intimidate him into accepting despite the colorful wording and romcom atmosphere. Ignoring everything else, they still paid a huge sum of money for his sake and he, being the pushover that he is, does not have the mind to refuse. The wording is pretty clear that they are expecting him to bend to her whims in exchange for what they did. The daughter is explicitly not treating it as a good, altruistic deed.I mean, it wasn't much of a threat. 'If you say no, then you have to be my butler!' Because landlords are evil. Why demolish a perfectly good house?
He said he admired her, maybe that's one of the reason he didn't decline the deal and it was a good deal he get to live with someone he admire"I might have made a life-changing decision"

I don't think he accepted because he felt coerced, I think he just didn't question it much because he wanted to accept. Her mother said the debt was illegal, and without that, they have nothing on him. I mean, he was basically abandoned by his parents, so I think she was just comforting him and assuring him that he's not actually alone, not implying that she's gonna socially isolate him. And it's not like she made his parents leave him, they were doing that anyway, she just stepped in when they did.Ok, I didn't find this "cute" at all, she saying "it's all right because you have me and only me" really gave me the creeps
