I feel like this is kind of a bad adaption. Obviously this is a novel that's heavy on the internal monologue, but that format isn't suitable for a visual medium. They can't manage to adapt that content visually so they just smack tons and tons of large text boxes with his inner thoughts over everything. It's almost like reading a picture book. Show, don't tell.
