Apparently almost dying after being betrayed by your childhood friend and developing trauma from the experience is "edgy". But this is also the same crowd that go "Why don't you just murder him! I would have!" whenever a modern MC doesn't go murder hobo on anyone who looks at him wrong.

He just wants to be left alone. Literally. So his people skills are kinda wack. This ceremony was a requirement to be accepted as S rank (and getting missions). Dude defeats nation levels threats and goes back to his ran down inn for some tea afterwards. He really doesn't care about theatrics or renown. He is already rich beyond measure from monster hunting alone.

He knows his limits and dangers of his blessing, so I wouldn't say that he is overall inexperienced, but he is inexperienced in escorting and fighting in a party.
