wtf? the princess wants a dragon partner so she can be a dragon knight but she thinks raising one from an egg is the best way to go about it? its not gonna be usable for years if not decades (depending on how long dragons live in this series cuz it wasnt really hinted at) but we do know that people would get dragons to raise alongside kids so they form bonds which means its gonna take atleast 10+ years for that dragon to grow after hatching...
