If he can go long distances like that so fast and still be in condition to fight s rank monsters, why the hell did he need a carriage to get to whatever ceremony it was in the first place?! He gets there faster just by running.
This is a series where weak muggles rule over the country instead of superhuman adventurers. Best not to think too hard.

To some degree, we always expect our heroes to win their battles against tough foes, since that's how conventional storytelling goes and we can't fault stories for doing that. However, all I wish is that some creativity shown through setup, tactics and payoffs is utilized to achieve their victory. If all the MC has to do is scream, do some flashy technique, and simply overpower their opponents until they're defeated then I feel like it's a disservice to the amazing art that accompanies it and to the portion of the audience that wants to read something fulfilling.

The “dilemma” between some title and the safety of his family is not even worth considering.

If anything the promotion givers should face scrutiny if they decided to not give the promotion because the people who should have received them had to defend a city instead of coming to their ceremony.

Next time on Father-Con Daughters Z.

The Hydra has been defeated and the day is saved. However the mastermind is Kaiser’s magic master, the Great Sage Etra. What was her purpose with the monster attacks? Will she appear before our hero and can she handle his daughters’ wrath? Will Regina and Irene battle it out once and for all to decide who will continue the Clyde bloodline? And will Kaiser finally notice? All this and more on Father-Con Daughters Z!

If that magic attack which was basically the Final Flash was strong enough to not only blow the hydra's core away but also tear through the rest of its body and the land beyond it, why not just use that spell to begin with? Worried he'd miss or something?
While it did tear through it's body, it didn't completely destroy it. So he needed to confirm were the core was first, as if he was wrong he wasn't getting a second shot

My guess would be that as soon as the core was destroyed all resistance and regeneration dropped to 0 thus it blew the lifeless body to smithers afterwards, he might have reached the conclusion that with its defensive power, trying it from the get go might've not done the job

Endurance, maybe. He was only partway to the capital, not all the way there. If he was close enough to hear the ruckus, that's a couple of kilometers or so, not leagues.

its waste of mana and energy tbh ... and S rank are hero realm... so better they enter city in grace rather then in hurry
And ^this too. It just wouldn't look good for someone attending a formal award ceremony to enter sweaty, battered, dirty, and exhausted.

I sense the onset of plotmanip. Kaiser and Regina will likely still get their promotion to S-rank, sans the ceremony, for slaying an S-rank monster which was threatening the Capital City. Probably with the intervention of the Royal family for his achievement for protecting them, and every government official residing there.

Oh, and the people too...did I forget to mention the citizens of the Capital?

It's either that or his own fiefdom and a title.

Adventurers presumably want to go adventuring, not spend all day on the bureaucracy that comes with governing. If one of them does try to take over a country, they simultaneously put a target on their back and stop polishing their skills, meaning eventually someone else will be able to come along and overthrow them.

It just makes more sense to leave the governing to the people who are actually skilled at it and just reap the benefits that come with being the guy who can protect them.
