I can certainly say that author don't know sht how to explain magic in simple terms in his works. So let's just assume that kaiser did really say something complex but managed to make it easier to understand.
Let's say this magic lecture is like math subject, teachers always introduce math that something we've learned back then that we already know, before proceeding and connecting it to the main topic that can be complex.
Just like this one, kaiser introduces the basic mana manipulation into other perspective like a recall on something basic (like mana), then proceed with something that magic formation, properties, or fundamentals then connects it with their main topic which their homeroom teacher probably trying to teach (even I didn't understand what he's saying, cause I ain't reading allat).
Anyway this is my random 3 am thoughts. (Yes, 3 am)
