Enough people use the term "T-Rex" to the point that it's socially correct... maybe not scientifically... but scientific and social language do not always match up... which is fine...

Scientific language is mainly for research documents and what not and is meant to be consistent in ways social language can't because it's meant for future generations while social language is always evolving and changing...

So both is right in different use cases...
