Hm. After reading these first two chapters I'm putting my odds at 3:2 in favour of this somehow ultimately turning to romance or... something like romance (like, say, an everlasting will-they-won't-they hanging sufficiently obviously in the background). But I really can't tell.

^{Nor can I say for sure which I'd prefer, without the characters being a lot more established. On the balance this probably has more promise as something non-romantic, but...}

Also this author surely likes their furry characters.
