It's well written and I'll follow it but....having the first major thing your MC does be at best morally dubious and at worst straight up evil, was certainly a choice. I get the feeling she is supposed to be an ultimately sympathetic character you are rooting for but when my first impression of the character is "kinda evil" it's a lot harder to do that.
