You'd have a leg to stand on, IF the group hadn't been sitting on the chapter until an MTL popped up before posting it. Which they did, and thus it can only be a reaction to being sniped.
The main group didn't release for 3 months, that means anyone can pick up the manga but that time period would depend on the raw release schedule, so there was no "sniping" there. My issue about this is the quality, and i'm not part of the scan group doing the work, but i've been to a group where their assigned staff just didn't reply for weeks of even a month for various irl reasons. The only thing you can do as a group leader is to get someone else to do it with a higher skill credibility to fill in the missing staff which they might not have and is looking for.

Now explain to me how did you come to a conclusion that the main group was just lazing about and has been outside touching grass? How is it sniping if the unofficial agreed upon rule for taking over is 3-6 months?

For all we know, they might have even released the chapter even if they were not done doing essential PR and QC work on it in fear that people might think they dropped it.

Thanks for the non-MTL chapter. I'm glad I can read this series again.

So 3 second rule….? It’s possible to still drink your tea and eat your scones if it stays on the floor for under 3 seconds?

PR and QC work taking 3 months for a single chapter
Now that is a one hell of a reach. If they were so adamant about the quality, they could take some extra time on it even if a MTL scanlation gets the drop on them.

Then why did they almost instantly upload the chapter after the MTL chapter got uploaded?
My issue is with this is the fact that the original group sat on the chapter for an extended time only to upload when "their" series got scanlated by someone else. Yes MTL qualifies as a scanlation.

Were you reading properly or are you just picking up words here and there to better suite your reasons?

They could have a MIA staff cause you know, IRL stuff and this is not work

"For all we know, they might have even released the chapter even if they were not done doing essential PR and QC work on it in fear that people might think they dropped it." as i've said in the previous reply. Nobody wants more low quality TL being released and I don't want a bad quality scan group taking over the manga title.

You keep implying "sat" when you don't even know what's happening in their group, you didn't even bother asking them why they haven't uploaded yet.

Yes MTL qualifies as a scanlation.
Of course it is, I didn't say it's not. But can you properly read the translation and understand the story?

Why are you complaining about their release time when you're just sitting and reading and not doing the scanlation. You don't have any idea about the process yet you come out here talking about "sat on chapter" and "sniping". The fact that you can understand that MTL release yet you fail to comprehend what I say to you is mind boggling for me.

And you are free to keep wondering about it.
If the scanlator waits until someone else picks it up before uploading and when they upload it, they don't even utter a word explaining why there was such a wait, how can one NOT take it as they were sitting on the upload?

Sorry, I'm kinda rooting for the snipers now lol

I'll just use my brain's auto correction function to understand the story 😂

I always love these situations where a group stops working on a translation, someone else picks it up, and then mysteriously the original group manages to pump out the same chapter while taking potshots at the group that """"sniped"""" them.
This exact thing happened with Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru. It was 6 months since the last chapter someone on reddit requested another group to take it. A guy assembled a group to work in it got 3 chapters done. Then the last group started to post his own and coincidentally just causally had 3 chapters of his own to upload.

I was specifically thinking of My Tiny Senpai from work when the regular group didn't upload for around six weeks, someone else put up a chapter, and then mysteriously the regular group had time to not only work on the chapters he'd been sitting on, but to go on here and reddit to remind everyone that he was Not Mad that someone sniped his "author-approved" work.

You need to calm down man. In 3 years of scanlating, this has happened plenty of times. Like wanting to pick up a series that started releasing 1 year ago, and end up releasing only hours apart from another group. Or picking up a dropped manga and when you're about to upload you see a new release from another group.

As a reader, this seems impossible, but as a scanlator, this is never ruled out. I don't know what the group's circumstances are, but a group has more than one person in it, and is working on more than one series, most often. Most often, people are assigned positions and series. They do not tamper with series they don't do, because it would be rude to the one who was assigned initially, unless they've withdrew from it or have given us the relevant heads up. There's nothing more common than a single position being absent for months being what keeps a chapter hanging.

As a translator, if you take the position at least somewhat seriously, you care a lot about how you interpret the chapter so that the readers have the best experience possible. Now imagine someone not giving half a shit about it, pastes the lines in DeepL and Google Translate, and release it like that, without any translation checking. I'd be devastated. Not because "my series was taken away" but because the effort I've spent on the storytelling has been spoiled, and I cannot reproduce the surprise effect of the chapter anymore because the readers will know what's gonna happen.

If it were me, and a group leader at that, I'd rush to allocate other people who weren't assigned for this series to fill the rest of the positions so that at least I can provide a better version if anything else.

I'm not trying to tell you that what you're saying did not happen. But you, and everyone else, need to be more open-minded in such cases, because you most likely have never been in the position of a scanlator. So at least try to understand it, even if a little.

Just for the record, my last post is the last I will make in this discussion.

I like that Hinako pouted when Itsuki basically said they weren't a good match, but what is she going to do about it? Boy, this is going to be a hell of an uphill battle for their romance. For now it feels like the entire world around them is against them getting together.

If I resume reading a manga late and see chapters by 2 or more groups I'll always choose the non-MTL one. I'm not entitled to chapters of what people do in their spare time since scanlation is a hobby, not a job. Same goes for things like anime fansubs and vtuber TL clips. I can wait, I've got dozens of other manga to read when something doesn't have new chapters.

Thanks for releasing a non-MTL chapter. Human TL > MTL every time.

He just started talking about the worst possible tradition to bring up in this situation...
