So the son seems like an untrustworthy fuck boi and the daughter is kind hearted and well intentioned but has a lethargic disposition and frail body.

Maybe the father should have spent more time properly raising his children and attending to their health? Just a thought. I mean they say "as the head of company he has a lot of responsibilities" and yet ignoring his chief responsibility seems to have created this nightmare scenario for the group/company. Granted we don't know why they're wary of the son taking over, but early development is highly important to one's character development. And based on what's already been said, I find it hard to believe there was ever a healthy family environment (even before the mother passed).

Fuck being mindful of your social position, we need a revolution

"The Konohana isn't in a good financial position" - Itsuki
"The group's total assets are near 300 Trillion yen" - Tsurumi
Is it possible to be in a "bad" financial position even when they are holding assets worth such a mind-boggling sum? :thonk:

This is shaping up quite well to be the "stereotypical caged bird princess waiting to be married off" plot that's just set in the modern era instead of the typical age of medieval castles and swords. The things I've said before seem to remain relevant and I think I can continue to expect some arranged marriage drama later... not looking forward to that. Things have gotten real heavy these couple of chapters (unless you're a reader who doesn't care about Hinako and her route, opting to support other girls).

too dramatic but ok
They try to make it dramatic, but it's a comedy no matter how hard they push the drama. Of course they're grooming him to be the son-in-law. It's almost comedic how they try to say otherwise while explaining the exact plot of the story.
