edit: Also, Leon is the best character in this story, as he is the only human character after this. The other may as well be archetype with MC be author insert and have omniscient.

Turns out it entirely hinges on Leon for some reason really "want to team up with Noel".

Yes if the alternative is Kaim dying then for sure that is out of the question but Noel can't predict that. Also Leon's team can just retreat and heal up and see how Noel will deal with the monster if not just let them win.

This betrayal card is one in a million odds of occurring.

This hurts, they was a party for a long time and yet when an obvious enemy known for selling his friends comes along and deconstruct you character, you rather trust him? The betrayal is in the fact that he knows his friends can't keep up with him and decides to throw everything they work so hard for away when things become dire. His cautiousness is his down fall.
