It was made by humans to be fair, and given that this is a manga. If the cliché continues, they were almost 100% guaranteed to be some form of Japanese otaku. Which means that they basically had an obligation to make it transform into a human looking girl or some other cute creature which is either a trap, animal, monster, or a ridiculously buff male who is only concerned with justice, muscles, and/or protecting others. If it is female it will be monotone with 0 emotion aside from maybe some sarcastic dry jokes or unreasonable aggression towards MC for generally no good reason. They also will be very critical of MC's actions even if his intentions were good.

I honestly would have been more surprised if it didn't transform or was only turned into a rock or something.
