I'm not exactly sure what's about dark skin in manga, but it makes me go silly. Irl my preferences go for white women. Nothing against black women, or...idk..."islanders", arabian, south american. Just doesn't really tickle my fancy.
But in manga dark skinned chicks are just DAYUM.

I'd have to say my preference is the opposite. I prefer skin-tones closer to either complete black or complete white. Panther or Polar Bear. Middle-of-the-road skintones never interested me at all.

I think (and I say THINK) it's because it boosts the "fantasy" of the fictional setting (I'm not talking about elves or anything, just the fact that it's a manga). Like, if she's white, well, there are white girls out there. And if she's black (which does NOT make me go silly), there are black girls out there. But the "dark skin" (again, not black, more like "tanned") doesn't seem to have a clear-cut parallel irl? I suppose we should say something like arabic, or south american? But in my eyes they look different, for whatever reason.
And hence, the dark skin manga girl is "pure fantasy" (literally). Maybe that's the appeal. But as I said, even I myself aren't sure, so xD

Meanwhile it reminds me of council estate white girls in Adidas tracksuits who spend half their lives in tanning parlors and come out looking orange like Trump. That is just how it seems to me.
