I'm feeling less sympathetic for Yamada. That said, Tachibana is the only one that deserves to be at a better hospital.

Also, while the standard protocol of rolling bariatric patients with no less than four people (a 500 pound patient requires about 6-8 lifters) is thrown out the window due to one being crushed and the other two being useless...you can get more success by using leverage. Instead of essentially deadlifting the patient (which will cause back injury), one can use their knees to brace on the ground at the hips, with a partner at the shoulders doing the same, and grab the patient's garments to roll them into the supine position...or at least the lateral or 3/4 prone position.

Ketoacidosis only comes after hyperglycemia, which in itself is a very gradual onset that takes place over the course of several days or even weeks. The fact that the patient's eating habits (along with underdosing on insulin) went unchecked for so long absolutely reeks of incompetence from the hospital staff.
I mean is it ever Yamada's fault? He doesn't even WANT to cause trouble or stress for the nurses. Heck, he doesn't even like or enjoy having to call anyone that isn't Tachibana (Even then he's troubled whenever she seems upset). He even tried to avoid having to call the nurses, because he cared not to cause them trouble. The whole point of being in a hospital is so that they can monitor your condition and help you out the best they can. Why pretend like you don't feel pain from your chronic illness just to not cause trouble for the people who's JOB is to make sure that you DON'T have chronic pain.

Everyone that grows to hate Yamada seems to act like the kid asked to have his condition or is ever actively trying to make their jobs harder. He's just a child trying not to feel pain dudes.

What do y'all expect him to do? Just not feel pain or not be ill? Imagine getting mad at a cancer patient for having chronic pain or for needing constant care and attention. Crazy.

The manga, at least, really doubles down on this every single chapter. Here, Tachibana's not mad at him personally for what he makes her do, but rather understands that it's not his fault, and he just happens to be the cherry on top of the shit sundae that is her work life. Over there? She not only makes it a point to insult him, berate him, and otherwise demean him with her every breath, but she also makes it a point to talk to him as though breaking his hands was all a big ploy to get her to have sex with him. Add to that the fact that she doesn't even try to do her job as head nurse, and the fact that she blames him for all the things the other nurses make him do, and it's no wonder why this version of the story is better right from the start.
