Man I feel bad for Tokai. He has stuck his neck (and dick) so far out for Hojo and the others, and what does he get for it?
Continuing on from my comment from last issue: in the early issues Hojo and Asami clearly were aiming for a kind of competitiveness that would threaten Japan, but through that threat spur it to strength and greatness. It was a sort of nationalism.
In these later chapters though they seem to have given way to much more focus on cooperation. Yes they cooperated, made alliances and deals, early too, but it was in the spirit of competitors with common goals. The sense of competition and ambition seems gone. Indeed, one might almost be reminded of the "live and let live" spirit that was so reviled in the early chapters.
Already they are seemingly turning into what they denounced.
