It's kinda common among Saudi Arabians to joke about Europeans and Americans complaining about heat waves, saying that they're pretty weak due to their prosperity pampering them, whereas such heat waves are actually normal around the Middle East proper and even large parts of the Greater Middle East. Particularly old people will then criticize younger ones for being pampered themselves by the prevalence of air conditioning, because back in the day they had it even worse for centuries upon centuries and still managed to make do.
