Prescription glasses and reading glasses are different. Reading glasses as said are specifically for old people with otherwise good eyesight which has been declining, while everyone here is likely relatively young and have had to have prescription glasses. See the below link for info!

Something in the translation seems off. Presbyopia (From ancient Greece meaning "Old Sight") affects EVERYONE beginning around age 40 as the lenses in your eyes harden due to age. Barring any other problems with your eyes, you will initially find it impossible to focus on up-close (~6-12 inches) text and as you age further the distance increases until you get to the joke about a person needing arm extensions so they can read the pages of a book they're holding in their hands. For someone only having the issues of Presbyopia, a simple cheap pair of reading glasses you can buy at any drug store can compensate. In my own case, however, I also developed astigmatism as I aged and simple reading glasses don't help.

Yea, formalities for another world could be completely different. If the author wanted to do that(and completely change the target audience), they could have said "you must strip yourself bare in front of the king. This shows your loyalty by presenting everything to him, and proves you do not intend him harm" for instance. They could have also chosen different imperial units such as maderaka (page 5&6, from Handyman Saitou In Another World).
