We're talking about government agents here, not average employees. Agents who may even risk their life for the sake of their mission
I think you might be putting them on a pedestal. I get that patriotism is a nice thing, but I doubt that these people would stay at their jobs if their employers stop paying them.

And the other agents are not even their coworkers.
There were agents there that represent the same government, and I was suggesting that their camaraderie may only be skin-deep.

Also, let's not forget that breaking the agreement also mean zero contact with her. So it's still within the best interests of their respective governments if they keep their lips sealed. Would they trust their immediate superiors if they reported to them?

@Liquidxlax
if they're smart, they could probably not lie once. Not reporting all the in formation isn't lying.
There's a term for that and it's "lying by omission". Not reporting everything is what I was suggesting; they still have to report something after all.

You can even argue that the individual people there might have a interest in keeping the mouth shut ( the fact that she expects that everyone there to keep the lid on top of the issue is stupid on the other hand ), but this is not the 90's and there is not a chance in hell that, given the importance of the issue, that no one is streaming the audio and/or video to their bosses ... for heavens sake, even if this was the 80's, there would be a battery of bugs and assorted spying apparel around the location.

There is not a chance in hell , even if the MC taunt could make the guys in the room to keep their mouth shut, that the word would not be out of there at the moment she said it. They can, for sure, decide that it in their best interest to not antagonize her and pretend they didn't hear that ... but for sure they know about it and the MC threat to the ones in the room is meaningless.

@rrolo1 At least in the WN, it was stated that she used her ability to remove any hidden spy equipment. They seemed to have skipped over it here.

Even then, she would have to contend with the decades old laser acoustic retrieval methods ( basically pointing a laser to anything in a room or even a window and measure its vibrations ) that can retrieve sound from a distance without the need for bugs ( it needs a line of sight though ) or more snazzy and recent stuff, like sound recovery from normal video using AI ( that one is actually 4-5 years old publicwise, so who knows for how many years the secret services have been using it )

That said, I strongly doubt she knows the mechanics of all stuff around to be able to discern what is bugged or not ... sure, the crass mike under the table would be easy to spot, but something hidden in a flourescent light? Some passive mike in the light switch? Nah ... unless she is the God of Mechanics in top of the God of Medicine she needs to be to able to do what se said she could do in the previous chapter ...

They set the meeting up at her mercenary company's base. Even if her wide area of expertise thanks to oniichan doesn't cover certain devices, the mercenaries would probably know about those, and they probably already are protecting themselves from them.

You mean those same guys that are, since the beginning of this arc, being actively spied by Russia and who knows who else? Those same guys whose base is under such tight control the moment someone unexpected was seen leaving it, it was jumped upon in a matter of minutes?

She would be less spied on in the door of Kremlin or the White House :p That base is probably more bugged than the US embassy on Cuba ever was ;) And even if it wasn't, like I said above, there are non-invasive methods to retrieve sound out of a divsion with windows ( as the one in here has, IIRC ) ... and I would not be surprised in the least if there were others for more hidden locations :/

Bottom line, no, she can't keep anything she says in that room in that room. That, in this time and age and in the context of this story, is absolutely impossible. More impossible than her implied knowledge in Medicine...

The suspension of disbelief for all the Earth parts are just so stupid. Go back to fantasyland already, Mitsuha.

you can tell absolutely nobody but your families are fine
Yeah because families never leak anything you can totally tell them state secrets
It should have just ended at her panicking and threatening them cause thats the joke the entire "betray your country and ill cure your nans cold" is dumb and unnecessary

It's a smart move cause if there's a leak all countries point their finger to each other. They have a big opportunity right now that will gets void is there is a leak
