I was completely fooled. I thought for sure that since the so called Saintess was poisoning people, that the so called monsters would turn out to be misunderstood and relatively decent. But it seems they are just as bad.

This guy really was expecting her to die by drinking poison, and no only that, but he's killed other people the same way in the past... possibly his own children? Are there any decent people in this story?

It seems I'm not the target audience for this, so I'm out, but the translations are appreciated all the same.

@icekatze I'm pretty sure it was mentioned that all of the duke's children are adopted, not his biological children. So he wasn't killing his children, not that it makes him very righteous, but still.

If 'even saints' are running around poisoning people, it might just be a common thing in the region, consider it preemptive poisoning/building immunity, except done rather poorly (Usually they start with a low dosage and build it up, rather than, you know, have several different vials in one go)

@yannickq well she was supposed to die when she drank the duke’s wine too. It seems she was immune to poison from the start. And the brothers must be special too.

The way it was phrased implies that somebody died trying pass the test. I guess they can't become family until the pass the test, but it's still pretty messed up.

In a world filled with magic, that's entirely possible, but it's still a rather dystopian world they're in. They've got institutional conspiracy, social darwinism, casual murder, etc. (It'd be hard for me personally to enjoy a dystopian story where the main character is trying to fit in, rather than break free.)
