The more story we get, the worse the little sister seems. It's normal for siblings to fight with each other but you're an asshole to consistently treat your sibling like shit for over a year.

They are the monsters that each other made...

That being said, I have to agree with the others here; this backstory makes Hiiragi sound much worse than before. Reading between the lines, she was kind and accomodating to her sister only as long as her sister was beneath her; the lesser, always racing to catch up. As soon as Tsubaki proved her equal, that kindness turned to coldness, then resentment, then sabotage. And Tsubaki, blind and kind as she is, doesn't understand that, can only imagine that this is all her fault somehow, that she has committed some terrible crime she still needs to atone for.

In previous chapters, it felt like Hiiragi's inferiority complex was externally motivated. A slowly festering wound, built over years. But here, we see that wasn't the case; her aggression was damn near instant. As soon as she came second at a single thing, she snapped at her sister. If she blames other people for that, she's projecting - the fault comes from within.

twins are a complicated situation
they are the closest two people can be without being a single person, that breeds dependence
they are judged and compared to with a nearly exact copy of themselves, that breeds competition
without the careful navigation of the complex social/mental/behavioral/skill growth of a pair of twins, that dependence and competition will become resentment

in the case of the Hinase sisters, Tsubaki became insanely dependent on Hiiragi basically her shadow. and it is clear that Tsubaki stunted Hiiragis growth. Hiiragi definately felt the burdren of Tsubaki, but she was fine with that because she was "winning" the competition of acedemics, sports, and recongition... until she wasnt. And now the sister, who she sacrificed time/friends/opportunities to help, surpasses her, in everyway. She "will not lose", but she does. Now when they are compared Hiiragi is in Tsubakis shadow, she is losing the competition. To avoid comparisons Hiiragi stops doing things that Tsubaki does. Hiiragi cant be her own person because Tsubaki follows her whereever she goes even if it is actively hurting Tsubakis future and Hiiragis mental state.

This results in Hiiragi completely shutting down, she quits her hobbies, her grades slip, and she isolates herself. Her choosing a different school is for her to be her own person, unlike Tsubaki, Hiiragi doesnt like the idea of just being "Tsubakis younger sister"

Hiiragis asshole attitude towards Tubaki is totally understandable and the people saying this backstory makes her look worse lack empathy she is obviously been depressed and angry for a long time. Hiiragi is a very strange character to have in a primarily gag manga, because her character is actually very sad and not much fun can be had with a genuinely depressed character.

Hiiragi is more fit as a depressed heroine that Ren needs to "save" in a romance story

I can see how peeps see that Hiiragis more of an asshole now that this chapters been shown, and i can honestly get behind that cuz i highkey dont like her and having a ""villain"" to hate is nice. But yeah Tsubaki definitely aint perfect either...

But at the same time I dont want to be angry at Tsubaki for not learning to grow out of someones shadow or growing a spine...

And I dont want to be angry at Hiiragi for not telling someone no or to speak up...

BUT AT THE SAME TIME (x2) U CAN GO ABOUT DISTANCING URSELF IN A LESS CRUEL WAY... idk these girls are a mess and im hopin for the best for em T_T
