The protagonist semi-convincingly hovers between being a bit shallow and inconsiderate one moment and being pitch-perfect wholesome the next, though I'm flip-flopping on whether he comes out feeling more like a real human being, or not, for all that.
(Sorry, I was supposed to be focusing on the other character, wasn't I? But he/she is so less interesting—mysteriously gendered trickster-fairy type who you can never know if they're serious; the archetype is just down to a T.)
