This was a really japanese SCP -- a perfect critique of their own culture through a spooky lense

it was creepy yeah, but I didnt really get what was happening. I should read the article itself for more information.

@Gustbk Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Doesn't make sense to Western audiences given that we don't put as much of a weight on respecting our elders, nor do we have the aging population problem that Japan is going through (at least, not to the same degree. The Baby Boomer generation entering retirement is putting a strain on things like social security and healthcare, but it isn't really coupled with a declining birth rate, nor is it anywhere near as severe).

I can appreciate the social commentary, but it's too straightforward and doesn't even justify designation. Also the use of "victim" ruins the immersion. The author could have at least developed a backstory or some description of the first contact that was a little disturbing.

Isn't it just complaining "Boomers bad" ? Like, author could at least try to make it less obvious.

... It's not the elderly that is the focus, but rather objective praise regardless of whether the action deserves it...
The victims of this SCP becomes entirely reliant on SCP-818-1A's praise, and so it's really social commentary on how society gives praise to every little thing, to the point where individuals or even organisations becomes totally dependent on it to survive, i.e. giving in to public opinion
