@Vincentius Thank you captain obvious. This is called a fallacy. He is comparing a grape to an orange. The author is Japanese, so it's natural, and not in any way wrong for them to do so, that they think of their own nation and forget the rest. Nevertheless, when then marveling at the many colors of hair in the other world he is showing the MC is comparing the two. Just because the variety isn't as grand as the other world does not negate there is variety. He also would have easily abated her concerns by pointing that out and could have even said he liked variety but that would be me nit-picking over the writing. But maybe a joke can be a joke for a jokes sake and not need to be turned into a lecture.
