That misunderstanding at the end was a nice addition I think. I had forgotten about the premise to an extent because since MC had worked out ways to get by and most of the people he dealt with never really made him being Jobless matter, so to an extent the idea that he was embarrassed by it and that it was a continuation of how he was jobless before didn't seem to fit too well. If you would, lately the story had felt more like he had 'all jobs' as his job instead of 'no job', but here we see it actually having some social issues that he is in fact jobless, and the details about how Haru is the adventurer and Carol is the peddler do matter rather than just removing an earlier inconvenience. I hope that this sort of melodrama doesn't get overplayed, but at this point I'd say that it's kinda been underplayed and given how the world works I get why he can't just tell people that he stumbled into a secret job, the goddesses wanting him to keep the fact that he's basically a god thanks to not choosing a job makes sense.
Just wanted to take a second as this helped give some teeth to the core struggle that the MC has been facing since the beginning after it's lost quite a few teeth since it was initially showcased as an issue (largely with the guilds).
