Erald has been straight with her, and pretty much every other character, so far. It would be really out of character for him to scam her of her due reward, especially when her getting it wouldn't really affect future plots. The orphanage could always use more money

I'm hoping that it's none of the saintess candidates, and the assassination was politically motivated by the Saintess/Apostle faction feud – keeping Ciro's family from gaining the power of having a saintess in the family. We've seen all these magical artifacts and heard about the power of money – could one of the wealthy members of the Saintess faction have access to something like that? Succubus perfume was almost-but-not-quite on the market, what else can bend people's minds like that?

Unfortunately my theories are almost always wrong. But it's fun to speculate!

Noble lady sounds rude, but i feel like there is more to her and its probably that she is a character that's made to look rude but its not really the case. Like the author wants us to dislike her (or not trust her at least)


Charm lady was cleared... unless that is what they want us to think! Now she looks like a victim of a "curse" and only wanted to know more about the guy behind the wall. But with the crazy guy attack? i dunno..

like puppetering, it would make sense how the son of the count would get that information from 3 different people, I was thinking the perpetrator could disguise or use illusion magic to look like different people but it wouldn't explain the amount of information.

It's either Monique or Violet if the suspects are within the saintess candidates. But with how young Monique is I wouldn't be surprised if someone was controlling her to set up the tragedies, from a narrative standpoint it would give more chapters cause they began to suspect Violet's overreaction, thus the mystery goes deeper if she gets cleared.

If it's a third party, yet to be introduced, the next thing to do is to become a saintess and expose the injustice. But if she does get that position, with how good the opposition's intel has been so far, wouldn't be surprised if it led to an espionage-rebellion war arc or something

Current assumption is either Monique because she is secretly evil, or Zoe's parent's who are clearly part of the Saintess faction and want to gain influence off their daughter's rise to power as an Apostle/Saintess. Laz will probably be revealed as been Ciro's friend during the last selection exam and has been trying to help Chloe.

Since it seems like the 2 final Apostles end up as 1 Gifted and 1 Non-Gifted, the only real reason to kill Ciro was if you had a Gift and were out shined by them, or if you didn't have a good relationship with them and weren't going to be paired up with them at the finals. Assuming Monique may be secretly evil in a [she grew up poor but learned that she was Gifted in manipulating people and decided that she deserved everything she wanted] way, she could have framed her gift as animal communication and when she got to the selection exam and found someone who had the "same Gift" and was older and more qualified, she had to eliminate her to gain a better position. On the other side, if Zoe's parents were informed that she didn't have a close enough relationship with Ciro who was frontrunner as the Gifted Apostle finalist, they may have determined it would be better to eliminate Ciro and have Monique selected as the Gifted Apostle since Zoe had a better relationship with her.
