Ah yes, here's the attempt to make the saint a sympathetic villain. At this rate, it'll eventually end up with the saint becoming one of those, "The goddess rescued me from a shit situation so I devoted myself to 'good' (TM) to repay their kindness. I didn't want to do evil but the goddess made me!" with the Fenrir gently letting the saint pet them once out of 'forgiveness'. I'd like it to kindly fuck off so that we can enjoy more fluffies.

That said, having the goddess be smart enough to not cross paths with the MC is somewhat refreshing. A nice change of pace to have the villain know they're outmatched and plan around it than having them constantly plot to fight them directly and fail miserably like other stories.

The goddess is biding her time. She knows that a hero will soon be born so have the hero, the saintess, and a few other high class jobs team up to take out the demon lord. They probably still won’t win but they stand a better chance than the saintess attacking by herself

Nah, it's to show that the "goddess" is brainwashing the Saint. If you notice how she's telling herself that people don't wholeheartedly want good yet gets a headache when remembering the pure little girl, that's like foreshadowing for the goddess actually being the bad guy.

I wouldn't say it's on her own. On a past memory of Zakkun, the goddess says that his status should have him hold unconditional hatred for humans, hinting that the more powerful the Job Class, the more the influence she has on their mind. Zakkun is strong enough a character that is able to keep it at bay, but Marianne seemingly has a traumatic past, which the Goddess can easily take advantage of to assume control over her mind.

She does have a point. You get far less gratitude for preventative actions than reactive. You can even get berated for being paranoid or acting in excess or paranoia.

Nah, I prefer the more grey approach over black and white. It did show that she comes from a good heart that was twisted over time.

But no handwaving; I agree on that. Kanata will probably forgive her quickly, but that's her. I think the main problem is, or at least should be, herself. Forgiveness and redemption arcs that depends on others forgiving them misses the point of redemption. It's about changing yourself and forgiving your own sins. Which in most cases you can't do; you can only learn how to live with them.
