The contract plan seems incredibly dumb. The rest of them I could see working without the spirits help, but "let's put into writing exactly how we're going to fuck you over" is stupid. So dumb I hope there's some kind of invisible ink that spirit powers let him see through.

Alwasy a coin flip if the update is a rerelease of a past chapter or an actually new chapter.

1) Who would teach spirit magic (you know, magic that relies on beings of the natural elements) in a classroomof all places?

2) Also as final plan... this is kindof dumb... I don't even think he needed Sylphy here. If they were willing to just have Yuuta be smarter then he could have figured this out himself.

Thank you for the chapter!

Not how I imagined the Valkyrie leader looking. I was expecting a dashing swordwoman, not the saint-wannabe type (the two-faced aspect is the same as in the novel though).

This is one of the few scenes where Yuuta shows a spine (mainly due to Sylphy coaching him but still), so I was looking forward to it. But the monthly release schedule takes a lot of the excitement.

I think it was in large part hoping that Yuuta either was illiterate, or like so many people can be, baited by the claims of the salesman and not savvy enough to actually read the terms of the contract. Bureaucratese is also a thing, though how developed that is in this society is unknown, and one of the biggest ways people who make these kinds of shit contracts dissuade the people who are supposed to sign from actually reading, or even if they do read, from being able to understand the contract.

That said, this kind of ploy really is easy to backfire if you've misread your opponent, and considering that he pulled it out this late, it feels less like a misreading of Yuuta, and more that the Guild Master really is that egotistical, that even with this being backup #4, he still thinks Yuuta can't outsmart him, or would have dropped his guard.

in the WN...
if im not mistaken its written in roundabout way, so its not totally blatant
Guild Master is commiting fraud.. possible taking money from the guild to himself. the conditons are too strict and controlling. monopoly on spiritmages.. and basically enslaving them. Nope. he needs to be fired into the ground for full force.
he is not only fired, but he also need to pay for the damages he caused which make him goes bankrupt, got humiliated by the other guild head (whom advise him just to give up, retire, and pay the damage), and later together with the girl assistant are sent to gulag (some kind of detention place or mining ground (something like that) around the mc forest, which actually famous for being very dangerous)

I mean it IS meant to be his final try. An 'if all else fails' hail Mary pass. He was hoping any of the others would have worked before he pulled this out in hopes it just got signed without much reading.

Edit: and as others said, probably a lot of people can't read very well, and would have just make their mark and gotten trapped.

Nah. Guildmaster just fully thinks he’s basically illiterate

the wn (and maybe next chapter) explains that the contract is written intentionally complicated such that the parts that would screw him over are written in seemingly innocuous paragraph, such that only a scholar would be able to notice it. Plus mc is in a crowded room and being asked to sign immediately. The guild master thought there was no way he’d notice it that fast
