For me the blur has always been for short spoilers and the spoiler window for long paragraphs of spoilers.

For me I see quite a few people use it to make horni jokes, not that I know where to find those comments now tho.
And usually people at least try to warn that it's a spoiler too, something like (spoiler) example text

lady, that might’ve worked 10 years ago, but every iphone (which that phone obviously is) released since 2016 (including the foldable) is water resistant to some degree, and all the ones with that camera setup are rated for 30 mins at 6 metres of submersion - putting them under a tap like that probably isn't gonna do anything other than getting the exterior wet (assuming the phone's never been opened up).

I've read the novel already so it doesn't affect me, but I guarantee you someone might randomly click on yours, simply because many people blur texts like that just to say jokes and stuffs.

The issue with the blur is also that it's easier to accidentally click, and you can't really tell which part was spoiler once opened.
