I think the first isekai that did the status screen was Death March which the MC was a dev for a MMO that just put in a newbie package into the game, which he used the right time and leveled up considerably. Hence the status screens and being OP. Everyone else is just cargo culting it and hoping for success.Anyone else BEYOND sick to death of the trope of the 'status screen' in isekais?
Like I get the isekai genre is inspired by videogames, but isn't this too on the nose, whilst being just a tad too unrealistic, even for fantasy? Like if it's a world of swords and magic, isn't it incongruent to have a computer screen flash up when you shout "status"?
And why isn't the implication of having a digital screen that gives numerical values to your abilities evident? That implication being; life isn't real - it's a simulation. This makes it all the more reasonable how someone could have glitched from one reality into another. But no one ever seems to talk about the status screen outside "whoah it's like them there videogames I've done played".
Anyway, gripe aside, I'll be following this.
Thanks for picking it up
It's no exaggeration to say that the office entrance is what gives the initial impression of the company. If we were to liken it to a home, it's like the entrance.
There's an isekai bingo?concept is nice, all that needs to happen is for the author to stray away from the Isekai bingo
That part stumped me
It’s no exaggeration to say that the office entrance is what gives the initial impression of the company since it’s the first place that customers visit
For example, the entrance to one’s home as well. Rather than a dirty entrance where shoes are scattered around, a clean and tidy entrance with all the shoes properly organised and stowed away would give a better impression.
There's an isekai bingo?
I'm more annoyed when the author doesn't understand status progression. Many tend to just have stats as arbitrary numbers that keep going up without context. I can only guess to use as a filler for content, or they can't show progression on their character themselves. Thankfully, I've read many stories where the authors realize that the status numbers don't mean or add anything to the story and they eventually drop them as a mechanic. About feel the same way about "Adventurer Rankings."Anyone else BEYOND sick to death of the trope of the 'status screen' in isekais?
