From what I read and understand in WN version,

I can say that Gray skills is mainly about "Negotiations", it's not mind control or brainwashing to be exact but works in similar way. Gray can use multiple skills when he talks, like increasing rare of negotiations, increasing rate when talk to opposite sex, and etc. It's not a full trance control, but it's success rate only in negotiations.
But, still quite troublesome bcs if Gray negotiation accepted, it's mean the other side indirectly trust in Gray. It will creating chain of loop that Gray can control.

Fortunately, Atobe has a good skill that can resist buff or something like cancel buff, so anyone who included in his party also receive the effect of his skill. Also, Atobe can see the user buff so he can prevent it. (Cmiiw)

That villain's negotiation skill is very troublesome. The main problem is this villain's "trickster" skill that allow to hide skill activation. That skill sound like a thief's skill.

Thank god that MC got "group debuff resistant passiv skill?". Otherwise they would fell on his skill without that.

For those that see that Gray is using a mind control ability, its not. He's just good at persuading people and relying on his skills too much. Avoiding karma because of that Trickster skill, use Negotiation to make it more in favor on him, and use another skill Gentle Performance to get a positive impression to opposite sex.

In the light novel its straightforward, his using skills to get what he wants and have a carefree life. He joined late in that alliance and make his way to the top using his skills. Thats why he bacame more of a de facto leader (secret) of it.
In Arihito's perspective and Ariadne's warning to him, he figured out what Gray did and deduced what his job is; A Suit. "like the kind of people who worked in clubs and restaurants and they'd need to be good at persuading the establishment's cast sometimes"

Daniella's job is a Doctor while Roland is an Air Trooper. The one beside him with a mohawk hairstyle is probably Thomas in the novel.

The shop Atobe and the others went to is translated as "Shichimuan" DrtLcked decides it to be Seven Dreams as an English literal translation. Which is already fine. Honestly, the AI translated it as an Inn instead 😂

I mean, they made the alliances BECAUSE she was pregnant, and apparently he is supposed to be a recent addition.

So not really an awkward question, more like an awkward situation...since it's likely he could make her leave her husband in some way.

It IS persuasive power, not full on mind control (i hope, else the wording should be something different), but still.

Honestly, they should have been dead already. The first time they mess up they're going to either be killed, or neutralized.

So in short, after Arihito's party successfully defeated the last and strongest Named Monster (Merciless Guillotine) in the district, Gray tried to steal the "prizes", assuming Arihito's party were exhausted. Since Gray himself is not a strong fighter (he's trash), he used monsters via summon charm to take on Arihito's party... but failed, because at this point, Arihito also had stronger monsters that could be summoned. Gray tried to run, but was blocked by Four Seasons. Then he used a smoke bomb to escape, but... when the smoke cleared, Gray was already in the hands of Guild Savior (Guild's knight). ARRESTED.

As a side note, the "prizes" in question is the Black Box (as usual) and Roland's soul. Roland and his group tried to defeat the Merciless Guillotine, but failed. The Merciless Guillotine can take the souls of its victims. However, the souls it takes can still be reclaimed as long as they are within the time limit. At the request of Roland's wife (since Arihito's party was arguably the strongest in the district at the time), Arihito entered the dungeon to rescue Roland. Gray probably only want the Black Box and claims that he was the one who defeated Merciless Guillotine, btw.
