This giant monument to the caller being in the middle of the royal capital seems real confusing for this story.
Wasn't the whole premise of this series that humans misunderstood the Caller ability, calling it Decoy? If the first generation Caller is so well-known that there's a tower of "fairy tales" commemorating them in the royal capital, it seems weird that humans are demonizing the ability. Even if they think the tales are fake, it shows that they supposedly hold the skill in high regard, so why are they also calling it something else + kicking them out of towns? Until now I assumed the whole truth of the Caller ability + the first Caller's feats were just a secret that human society was unaware of.
There's always a chance of a "someone's intentionally messing with peoples' memory of history" plot like happens in reincarnation stories sometimes, but I don't know if I think that's the case or if it's weird/sloppy writing.
