Why were they keeping that eye in the first place?
Well, if that was a story aiming to be credible then the first caller and the divine beasts would have detroyed the eye or sealed it away if they could not destroy it.
But this is a Japanese manga story.
Therefore, of course, for easy plot development they left it out in the open for everyone and their mother to visit and see it.

Since that was the last monster the First Caller fought, then that is the Demon Lord he died fighting to, so the First Caller would not have been the one to put it in the tower. Now, how did it get there and why? There are countless reasons that logically make sense.

Thank you scanalation team, this may not be the most amazing story in the world, but it is fun and I am enjoying it, so thank you for keeping the story alive.

This giant monument to the caller being in the middle of the royal capital seems real confusing for this story.

Wasn't the whole premise of this series that humans misunderstood the Caller ability, calling it Decoy? If the first generation Caller is so well-known that there's a tower of "fairy tales" commemorating them in the royal capital, it seems weird that humans are demonizing the ability. Even if they think the tales are fake, it shows that they supposedly hold the skill in high regard, so why are they also calling it something else + kicking them out of towns? Until now I assumed the whole truth of the Caller ability + the first Caller's feats were just a secret that human society was unaware of.

There's always a chance of a "someone's intentionally messing with peoples' memory of history" plot like happens in reincarnation stories sometimes, but I don't know if I think that's the case or if it's weird/sloppy writing.

to be fair it's not just mangas. :D
Diablo's story especially the 2nd revolves entirely on someone sealing the worst demon ever in a super complicated tomb, built like a maze, that can only be opened with some very special keys... And leaving those 3 keys within a mile of each other in the open. Of course, within walking distance of said tomb.
