Thank you for scanlating this to the end! It was a gentle, atmospheric read. Some might argue that it's a little on the pretentious side of things, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it anyway :D Just embrace the slightly exaggerated responses and you'll be fine~

Surely in a world wherein Shokugeki no Soma exists, some allowances can be made here 😏

Hi, here is my review of the manga: I really enjoyed reading it, thank you for translators. I have seen sumi e artwork, despite not knowing much about its history or techniques, I really find it attractive. I feel like any kind of calligraphy-like brush art is very expressive and emotional. I loved the ideas of facing your past and finding a purpose, and I enjoyed seeing the culture of the sumi-e. I also don't think it was too pretentious, maybe sometimes, but I think it's a good thing they assign such high meaning to the art.

On the negative: It felt a bit too long and dragged in a way. I am not sure if I am content with the ending, nothing wrong about it, it's a happy end, it's just that for me it felt a bit sudden. Whatever, it was a great one. Also I have not really come close to the characters.

I enjoyed this series, I found the lack of overt romance refreshing. It also reminded me of when I used to do ink painting in high school, and the first thing I learned to paint was bamboo, followed by grapes, wisteria and chrysanthemum. I loved playing around with the gradient technique where you soak the bush with water then dip the tip in ink. I still have my ink and brush set.

Speaking of chrysanthemums, the translation keeps referring to what clearly looks like chrysanthemums as 'daisies'. I wondered if this was an error, or maybe there wasn't room in the speech bubbles for chrysanthemums. Looking online, Japanese for daisy is hinagiku, while chrysanthemum is kiku (same kanji as the 'giku' in 'hinagiku').
