The thing about Mitsuhide is that even today, scholars still don't really know why Mitsuhide betrayed Nobunaga. Most attribute it to their rapidly deteriorating relationship (of which there were many other factors at play, from Nobunaga's erratic behaviour and generally being a toxic boss to Nobunaga getting Mitsuhide's mother killed).

There's even a suggestion that Mitsuhide was actually just a pawn in a bigger game played by the two Big Winners at the end of the whole incident (Hideyoshi and Ieyasu). We know from an earlier chapter (40) that Hideyoshi's brother, Hidenaga pulls a lot of strings in the political scene and has been working to build his family's influence in the faction. So the story may take this route instead of the usual "Mitsuhide had a personal vendetta/ambition" story.

What's a good "MC-brings-technology-to-an-ancient-setting" recommendation after reading this one?
Looks like Akechi's staying true to history and is our main big antagonist in this "MC-brings-technology-to-an-ancient-setting" story.

...We really need a shorter term for this kind of genre. Maybe there already is.

I always read these stories and wondered why they don't monitor Mitsuhide and let him roam free knowing he'll eventually betray Oda. You don't need to tell others about the future but just prevent even if it means taking him out whenever you get the chance.
Because he is an important enough vassal who is properly doing his job? Touching him for no reason (in the eyes of everyone else) will pretty much instant-kill your reputation and your people's loyalty.

I don't get why Akechi still has reservations over Shizuko. She has proven her worth time and time again. The mere facts that Shizuko introduced logistics and farmed saltpeter should've been enough for him to welcome her wholeheartedly.
Never heard of people that are too talented gets ****ed? The more capable you're, the more you're a threat.

I want to know too. The only one I can think of is Takarakuji de 40-oku Atatta n dakedo Isekai ni Ijuu Suru, but that one suffers from your typical braindead beta MC.

Sadly I don't think it's that simple, especially in Shizuko's case. Mitsuhide is one of Oda's top vassals, and as such carries a great amount of trust and influence within the Oda army. If Shizuko tried to have Mitsuhide removed (either stripped of his post and/or even killed), many of Oda's vassals and soldiers would likely oppose the decision, and this would only hurt Shizuko's reputation within Oda's army (which is already questioned at times, simply for her being a woman), while greatly helping Mitsuhide's own. Even if Oda greatly trusts Shizuko's judgement, I doubt he'd act without solid evidence, which sadly Shizuko likely has none of.

Not to mention that even if he may eventually betray Oda, at the moment, he does his assigned tasks well. So, all she can do is keep an eye on Mitsuhide (which I think she does), and watch for any suspicious behavior. If he acts out of line (and there's evidence), then Shizuko can report it to Oda, and Oda can punish Mitsuhide with little to no criticism from his forces. If Mitsuhide continues to play the part he's given and support Oda without betrayal, then there'd be no loss nor reason to have him removed.

So long story short, if Shizuko acts too soon and/or without evidence, that would only make her look like a villain, while at the same time Mitsuhide could use that as reason to betray Oda (especially if Oda supported Shizuko) and even gather more allies to his side. And the Oda clan may end up split followed by infighting, and this would simply make them vulnerable to their enemies, and Oda has A LOT of enemies.

bruh if she knows lots of details about history as a history maniac, fine, agriculture yeah thats her field, but illness?? u kidding thats absolutely not common knowledge TT especially not for someone who stopped their education before graduating from highschool, and especially a highschool specified in agriculture lol
well we are used to shizuko being the mary sue she is i suppose lol and its fine that way, but id like it if she remembered wrong at times, cuz its simply impossible to not forget, even more when she cant take a look in a book or on the internet to freshen up her memory x)
or a least her realizing how weird it is to have this accurate of a memory x)
also, something that always bothered me in isekai with mc having scientific knowledge is how they take all the fucking credit for themselves when they did nothing but learn it at school
if your incredible memory remembered everything, it surely remembers who was the inventor lol dont fucking say vaccin is your idea and credit at least Pasteur broooo TT
anyway, thats just me venting but this manga clearly deserves 10 stars for the execution and drawing <3

maybe the fact that she is a young woman? i mean its almost a miracle she made it here thanks to oda's flexible mind, lets not forget woman fuxking brought disaster according to their belief if they came onto battlefields or had an important job haha

I wonder why some people think that if he/she can go back to past, he/she can make changes in history... I don't think we can't change. Like this chapter have show, a plaque is hardly have any cure, very limited resources for not having good road, a leader that always busy with war, and many problem. Today modern world came to be not by power of 1 person but million and that changes also need time to came true.

You already have the Vaccine Shizuko! The scabs of the people who survive the pox.
doing that would still give them a semi-severe version of smallpox. they need cowpox in order to make a vaccine

It really depends on the 'ally'. If the time traveler wants an immediate effect. he needs to be trusted by someone who has powerful influence (like a dictator).
Without this, the time traveler would be labeled as a 'heretic' or 'witch'.

butterfly effect is also something that can't be ignored

That's a really nice excuse. Akechi probably won't accept humanitarian excuse since technically other nation's loss is Oda's gain, so she spins it around saying that plagues from others can ruin them back too.
Oda can use that to his advantage like spread the news that Oda gave the cure or something but their lord didn't use it for their people they will see that Kyo was not affected while they themselves get shit on.

There could be several peasant uprising after this.
Even if not uprising, the people would almost definitely see Oda in a much better light. A benevolent ruler rather than a barbaric invader.

I'm going to have to re-read this series to remind myself of Shizuko's "starting qualities". I remember her being an ag/history buff, so she'd have dabbled in a bit of everything, and I would think that knowledge of illness is more common in modern times, so I guess all this makes sense?

I don't know where I was going with this. XD

Also, I need to remind myself how many years it's been since Shizuko time slipped. Isn't she in her early 20's? If that's the case, a marriage arc feels imminent.
One of the early chapters notes she learned a lot of things not just from her grandpa but his friends as well which she noted were world renown experts in their respective fields.
She only focused on the fungus expert because of the shiitake chapter but the picture shows most had uniforms of different fields of work and study.

I'm not sure if it'd be your cup of tea, but there's a Tezuka award-winning manga titled Jin. I personally liked it quite a bit, and it did the genre before it was cool- in the early 2000s.
Seconded, it was really good though I don’t know if it was ever fully scanned.

In Oda territory:
300 deaths / 13000 infected ~= 0.023
~2.3% infection fatality rate

In other provinces:
160000 deaths / 200000 infected = 0.8
80% infection fatality rate

Hard to deny that much of a difference.
