Ah, so this manga chose the "Hideyoshi was the real traitor" angle. For me it made more sense if the historical Mitsuhide - despite already having enough reasons to commit treason on his own - was still hesitant until he was convinced by Hideyoshi, perhaps with the latter saying he'll back him only to destroy him at Yamazaki less than two weeks later.
