I know they’re young and all, but surely being stoned and enslaved would be enough of a deterrent to wander out into the open without supervision. Hell, their natural parents died early because of their defiance. Now our MC and his ‘servant’ will probably have to shred the town looking for them. Hopefully they’ll see that they not only endangered themselves, but their caretaker too, and won’t ever act so capriciously.
Would be a nice change of pace if the old man was truly just being helpful. The fact that he saw that no one was around to verify they were twins is a good sign; that and not calling anyone over.

As for the old man, he too knows the corruption of the world. That's why he has benevolence towards those less fortunate by birth.

NOT ENOUGH TWINS but that fight was lit. I would love to see Studio Bones or Trigger go after that scene (not Ufotable though they might make it too glitzy and smooth).

I'm making some predictions.

1. This is Isekai.
2. He's a twin, but his twin died.
3. The story of the demon twins harming the goddess was him fighting against some psychopath who became known as the goddess
4. She's either an otherworlder, or the person who would be known as the goddess later on.

Edit: It's amusing that Isekai is such a stigma now in Japanese manga that they're avoiding flat out stating it.
