The mother died at 75. Connie was about 13 when we first saw him, and he then says 40 years had passed, making him ~53. The mother initially agreed that they were around his age when we first saw Connie. Assuming the mother was a perfectly healthy adult human woman with no weird fantasy powers, she couldn't have been over 30 when we first saw her because she still looked super young. You would think that, when they weren't children anymore, the mother would've imparted plenty of wisdom to them. Yet, when we see them meeting older Connie and later being manhandled by big burly men, they're still acting like orphaned children despite probably being in their 50's as well.

I know we're supposed to feel bad for them and that this is giving them much needed backstory (too late, but better late than never), but I'm seeing them WAY differently than what is probably expected.

I think the issue is you arent taking into consideration the development of their brains. If they still have a child's development, because they physically/mentally mature MUCH slower, it makes sense not everything is going to stick. Their brains are still underdeveloped. So no matter how much the mom tried to impart wisdom...a child isnt going to really retain everything.

(also not sure how this is a "too late" backstory when its only 26 chapters in and they werent even introduced until a number of chapters in)

^This, While they might REMEMBER the things their mother told them, children have impulse control issues, are generally terrible at risk management, and by nature are overly trusting and seek figures to be dependent on - the last two are generally beneficial for a child's survival, which is why it is a typical human child's default behavior (you have to abuse the hell out of a child for them to not openly display these traits) - but obviously not in cases where just being yourself will get you murdered.

I think the mother might have been lying to the kids quite a bit... or maybe they skipped over some other stuff she told them.
Doesn't make sense to me that she's a good enough mage to use magic to build houses and cast illusion spells, but she has no clue who the Demon Lord was.

Would be really sad if she never told them the real story, unless somehow she was just a normal good looking woman (maybe a mage in training? A low ranking noble?) and the Demon King's sperm granted her magic power and the knowledge to use it - an odd story but I wouldn't object to just lying back and taking it (it worked for her!)

EDIT: Well, I meant I'd take the story as it is presented to us now... not the sperm...

I actually sympathize with the siblings quite a bit here. It's bad that they're trying to backstab fellow survivors in a survival situation, but their logic for doing so is essentially correct. It's a good thing to take out two of the leaders of the empires oppressing their people, they probably can't do it outside the low mana zone, and it's a good and noble thing to prioritize the war effort and their people over survival.

Obviously they're going to fall in love and give up on the murder thing eventually, but I hope they actually address their serious reasons for doing what they're doing. I could easily see this plot point getting shallowly brushed aside for more ecchi, and that'd be sad.

Also damn, I've read so many stories about parents and their non-so-normal children and it ending up with the parents or children getting killed by the villagers that it's actually refreshing to see the mother die peacefully of old age instead.

Except these two were innocent demons. You cant blame an entire race on what those in power do. These two did nothing wrong.

These two got attacked by humans, the humans were in the wrong. Its that simple, we dont even know yet how badly the humans treated these two after the last page.

For all we know thats how the war started too, by the humans(humans usually suck both in stories and irl). We only have half the story.

They were innocent at that point in time, but we are in the present now and they're anything but innocent demons.

I'm also talking about the human perspective here, obviously as a human, you don't care who started the war if you nearly get wiped out, you'd want to stop that from happening again, the humans at that point in the story wouldn't be wrong to try and stop such a tragedy from happening again. They're also the children of a human mother, if they succeed in wiping out humankind, children like them would never be born again either.

she did, the twin did mention that their mother told them to move every 5 years, they just didn't follow through until too late
and yeah, they are kind of naive and childish for 50+ years old

Was the incubus father in the dream actually the demon lord or just a random demon?

The kids claimed to be children of the Demon Lord in previous chapters and even used the special demon sword which only the Demon Lord could wield.

Wondering if the Demon Lord had more children because he saw his death coming when the human hero, elves, and dragonkin united together.
