I don't know about stats but to me, I find dengue to be less worse of the two. I caught dengue once and the doctors only prescribed me rest and water (and the usual common pills). It was a terrible week but I'm okay now.
You're right malaria is worse than dengue since it has a higher fatality rate especially to him since he's probably malnourished af and malaria causes organ failure, and dengue can develop into severe dangue and cause internal hemorrhaging if left untreated but has a significantly lower mortality rate than malaria.

The mosquitoes seemed to bite the girls more, probably they suck mana. Dai will be unconscious for a time, and the girls will need to cooperate to survive by themselves without any of their powers because of the lack of mana.

Maybe

Not that I expect realism from this manga but, when it comes to Malaria, it usually takes around 10-15 days to show symptoms after the mosquito bite (5-10 days for Dengue). Exhaustion and malnutrition might "help", but these infections do not work this fast (nor cause people to lose consciousness). For now, I'll file it under "magic illness".
Indeed also for those who aren't inthe know.. 'severe malaria' has a nearly 100% fatality rate if untreated so yea, author might need to bust out some magical healing if they're going this route :notlikethis:

Bro I'd just kill myself. I legitimately go insane from mosquito bites due to mosquito saliva allergies. If I got bit that much, I think I'd actually go insane and kill myself. Might even just throw myself in the fires.

I don't think it's from the mosquitos, it would be strange for them to all fall ill at the same time.
It's probably something that they're burning

It should be Malaria, the more infamous Dengue, Yellow Fever and Zika viruses don't infect mosquitoes naturally. Instead they use mosquitoes as hosts to carry them between primates-their primary host, in an enzootic primate-mosquitoes-primate cycle. As we haven't seen any monkeys around and our human protagonists probably don't carry the viruses themselves, Malaria is the most likely scenario here (unless it's some magic mosquito).

That's an insane way to scratch lol. Also, did he get malaria?
Correct buuut:
Isn't this a umm... JoJo reference?

From the Boat Scene
IT IS a JoJo reference 🤣
I like how even before the end of the chapter, near the start when Anastasia was despairing about not being able to scratch with nobody around, Naga was already scratching herself like that. Zero fucks given.
But that makes Ana's private scratching that much more funny and note worthy.

Just treat it with Ivermectin. Too bad they don't have any. (That's literally what Ivermectin was invented to treat BTW)
Actually, Ivermectin controls malaria by making your blood poison to the mosquitoes. You're probably thinking of quinine, taken from the bark of cinchona tree.
