Just to note a mistranslation:
サイダー is not cider.
サイダー refers to Lemon-lime soft drinks. (think Sprite or 7-up)
(note how it says レモン [lemon] on the can)
So essentially wasei-eigo. A Japanese word. Not an English one. Any "English" in Japanese works, or from a Japanese person/source in general (including "English" textbooks and en-jp/jp-en dictionaries! ), should be viewed with suspicion.

What is called cider in the UK, the alcoholic apple drink, is シードル. (it would be very inappropriate, for a high school to have vending machines with alcoholic drinks, for it's underage pupils. Not that it'd be particularly appropriate at a university either, mind you, but…)
The US meaning, of a particular kind of still non-alcoholic apple drink, is アップルサイダー.
