Not surprised that it was axed. Author should have stopped the running joke at volume 1 or at chapter 12-13.
Manga authors usually have this imbecilic laser vision, reusing the joke until it starts to hurt the readers.
Or not making any progress until it's too late to make any due to publishing company saying it's gonna be axed.
I've checked authors other works at seems author can't go past volume 3.
There was something about Sister-in law with the same freaking motive. Bordering sex but not following through, girl is assertive guy is trying to defend. Using this type of joke for many volumes is tiresome for readers. Why can some rom-coms survive for many chapters? They usually start at point 0 and have some minimal progressions every volume and most of the times (low quality works) added artificial and stupid drama point.
In any case joke is overused and edging can only last that long until people get tired of it. When a women openly invites you to touch her or sleep with her and you don't follow or harshly reject it becomes a complete slop of unrealistic behaviour.
Author needed to progress the story sooner if they wanted to continue it. Or stop at volume 1 and create a different work as a season 2 where they level up their relationship. (1st work about to finally to start to date 2nd Dating 3rd Marriage 4th family life)
Instead author pushed their luck with producing 2 volumes of the same shite, probably hoping for 3rd and 4th volume like some other trashy works, that survived for more than 100+ chapters (thinking about rent a girlfriend).
