Also does it bother anyone how sometimes the counts for the Haikus are off by a syllable?

To be honest, I don't care about that at all. Someone out there is translating poetry with strict rules on syllable counts from one language into another. That's not the normal deal for translation at all, and it's not like I'd take the time to count it out on every single one of them anyway. As prominent as the senryuu might seem in the series, it's completely secondary or even tertiary to the reasons I'm actually reading the series.
