NGL, this arc is odd to me in terms of how Asahi’s character is being portrayed. His entire thing trying to date a man is that every girl he dated in the past broke up with him because they thought his personality didn’t match his looks. Why is he so upfront all of a sudden? The narrative’s changed from Asahi not knowing how to deal with expectations in romance to full on rizzing up people. It’s so odd to have this switch occur without any progress like Kaede had with needing to learn how to love and Izumi had with past and current abuse.

Yeah, he seems a lot more enthusiastic, even “aggressive” in this new relationship. Which could just mean dude is gay and flourishing and the conflict is on the boyfriends’ side, but we’re early in this story.

I’ve also noticed that all of the heterosexual relationships so far has been catastrophic, the only lesbian is stuck in a one sided romance, and the only wholesome relationship has been the gay one. What did the author mean by this?

I think the issue with this arc is that there's barely any conflict. Asahi is okay with the relationship, Kanafumi is also okay with it and the age thing is not a problem to them. It just feels kinda boring compared to the other arcs.

That said, I'm sure the age thing plus Kanafumi wanting to be a teacher is gonna bring conflict eventually.

Nah the arc is just pretty shit. The first one was by far the best despite the conclusion being mid somewhat. Second arc was okay but doesn’t compare. This one is just ass.

I knew the age gap wouldn't be big!!! I'm quite liking this arc. Besides the gay reasons; we are seeing Asahi become more selfish and use his charm to get more. We see through the series that he's willing to give up for his friends yet not for himself

You said that but dating a teenager when you are on your 20s is weird, i had a friend in uni who was dating a girl that was 18 when he was 23, he meet her one year prior

He keep saying "it is just 5 years", but it still feel really creepy, i distanced myself from him eventually so i don't know how that turned out, but it really felt like he was taking the girl for a ride

At least Kanefumi here is not trying to downplay the dynamics that come with the age difference in their relationship, which assures me that he wouldn't try to use his experience to take advantage of Asashi
