This arc is too straight forward, there no drama at all it’s weird. I don’t see it ending with just her getting heartbroken and just getting over it, she’s either gonna do what I said before or she’ll just snap really hard and things will get ugly imo

Yeah, plus they're young, it may hurt in the moment but when she becomes an adult she can just go to a lesbian bar or so/meet a whole community of ppl that'd actually be attracted (unless she has bad enough luck to run into ppl who are just curious but end up being straight in the end again) so after a few proper relationships i'd imagine she'd be able to move on unless she ends up just hooking up with everyone that reminds her of her or so (someone said the author said this arc would be 'lighter' but that might be for asahi's case versus her also getting a happy result)

Same. This series is more about... grounded drama than soap opera blow ups.

I think this is more Mahiro being the contrast to Asahi's gayphoria, that not every homocrush is going to switch teams for you and see you as more than a friend. You're going to have to accept your being relegated to the FriendZone or if you can't accept that you're going to have to move on.

A more dramatic series I could see this: Mahiro either trying to will herself to like Asahi in a fake-it-till-she-makes-it sense or just naturally discovering she's homoflexible and dealing with the fallout from that. But I don't see things going this route given how the other stories went and it being more about "the harsh & disappointing but very normal reality".
