Lucas be like don't worry little bro I'm already on it.

But yeah it was a nice change of pace to get an outsider POV as well as get more lore on the Oak faith. Some real crazy hive mind endgoal they have over there. Suppression of the individual for group benefit is usually a fascinating theme both IRL and in fiction.

As the above commenter said Lucas still isn't exactly in the best headspace right now abd getting validation for his actions probably isn't going to help that issue either.

Mark of true talent as a mangaka, to have a chapter centering entirely on two completely new characters with seemingly no connection to our protagonists, and have it be gripping, compelling, and impactful. This manga is so fucking peak man

Might as well have killed her... that would be a mercy.

The "oakist" bullshit really is on par with what the "futurists" assholes think, a bunch of egomaniac shitstains that fucked up the world because they couldn't think of anything better than world domination, then they lobotomise people so that they are obedient little lambs.

Community is important, one of the facets of being alive is to connect with others... but community should not be quantified with concepts like "majority" like that.

Collectivism and individualism should not be treated simply as opposing parts, but two forces that push, pull, and mix with each other.

It's a great technique that allows us the readers to view the main characters from a different perspective. The few times I recall when an author took it too far was in Attack on Titan when
we switched to Gabi's and Falco's perspective post time skip. In that case the author tried to make the new characters the central focus for too long and it felt forced - I was not a fan of that arc.

I really do hope this manga gets more recognition but I understand that it's themes might be a bit too bleak to go mainstream. However, I'm genuinely curious to see how this is going to end.

Man, how much do you want to bet at least half the motivation of this chapter was as a response to the series' sales metrics? Like, you can't get more baldfaced than "Man, that story was all style no substance. The fuck was it even trying to say?" "Shut the fuck up bitch, let the marke-er, masses decide because numbers = quality." "See? CoD is obviously better because it sold more"

I think there's a lot of resemblance with the oak trees doing all of that brainwashing thing to Lucas's resonating power evoking his own feelings upon the people for them to cause mass murder. The author is definitely setting up a dilemma or thoughtful reminder that Lucas might be no different than the ones he's fighting against(which is probably obvious from the previous chapters). Definitely, there will not be a grand ending for this story. A grim one for Lucas.
