The face of mother when she thought the Garland was genuinely motivated is cute lol GREAT! what a twisted monster, the dissonance is incredible, also that lore drop is incredible as well, reminds me of Eureka 7
Everyone and everything is falling apart.

A lot to unpack this chapter.

The Emperor turns out not to be a Futurist like all the other tree body people, but rather an actual Druid inhabiting an artificial body. It explains why the Druids have more presence in the Empire than the other nations, as they are actually running it. It hasn’t been made explicit yet, but it seems evident that all the tree bodies are made from the Druid trees.

I like how, in many ways, the series is science fiction disguised as fantasy. The towers being compared to radio towers, the horns of the rami being essentially receiving antennas, time travel, and now alien invasions.

The Emperor offering Kayano conquest and status, not understanding Kayano is not interested in such things, is a clear parallel to how the Pope tried to sell Lucas on the idea of being a great hero, which Lucas was similarly uninterested in. Also of note is that, in both of their cases, the “powers” we initially see them using are revealed to be side effects of their actual powers.

Speaking of parallels, the one between Kayano and Zoe has never been more evident. Both young girls, who didn’t know better, have been manipulated by fake parental figures into carrying out terrible things, only for both to want out once they comprehend the consequences of their actions. If any characters survive this series, I expect it to be those two.

Mira seems like a decent enough fellow, not telling on Kayano to the others, though I imagine he might also not be keen on the idea of an alien invasion. Either way, I doubt he will teleport Kayano back home. Akira might also not want that, as he seems to truly care about Kayano, despite his attempts at making her into a hedonistic, uncaring soldier.

I imagine the reason the Emperor doesn’t allow Akira to go all out with the Tower’s power is because it would accelerate its imminent wilting. I predict that Zoe is going to be captured, because as a sapling candidate, she has been established as an ideal new core for the Tower. I imagine this will cause Lucas to go attack the capital to save her, before his own flowering is done recharging, so he won’t just be able to make them kill each other like in Southampton.

Literally came to write something along these lines, but you’ve already worded it so succinctly.

It's interesting to see that Kayano is the natural champion for the druids being able to spread them, and Lucas is a natural champion for humanity, being able to lead them.
With this whole colonization thing though, I dont really see who the pope is working for. Why would any druid support them?

I don't think the pope works for the druids, at least not anymore, maybe he only worked for futurists. Although with how things are going I wonder if he betrayed them or if there's another group that he still takes orders from.

Great chapter, I'm especially interested in what happens between Zoe and Lucas, the parallel with teh Garland is a good idea.

The revelation about the druids isn't all that surprising, although it makes me curious about why they would want to go back in time when they seem to already have a strangle hold on most future humans.

Also the blood swap ramus seems ready to swap side, I hope he does he could be used for some really cool strategies.

Ha... haha... hahahahaha... haaaa... fucking idiots.

The "futurists" are even more of a pathetic bunch than I thought at first... they got colonised, and they don't see it.

They played with a power they could barely understand, now the time stream of the world is fucked up, and these monsters are trying to terraform Earth.

The Papal State's main army betrayal is even more stupid now, the general betrayed the pope because he was offended that this war is caused by time travelers fighting a proxy war, and he chose the side of the war profiteers... now we know he didn't even chose humanity in the end.

You know... I had a strange feeling about Kayano's power, sure... attracting meteors is a lot powerful, the mechanics behind it were solid with the limitation, but... it felt too simple.

Since we started to see more of how the ramis' abilities work, I thought it had to be more behind it, but i thought I was just overthinking and that her flowering just specialized her ability... and yeah, I was kinda right, the firepower is just a "side effect"... he ability is "terraforming".

I said before I wanted Kayano dead... I kinda changed my mind, but at the same time... her power in special is very dangerous for the planet... I really don't know now.

Sad the facsimiles are dying like this, they deserved the chance to live their lives.
