Is it just me or has Hitomi been slowly taking over the protagonist slot as of late?

In these last few story arcs, there's been a steady increase in gratuitous fanservice; I mean, it's pretty tame stuff and not really that distracting, but that shot of Hitomi's thighs in the first page is not something I remember happening at all in earlier chapters.

I would have to read it again from the beginning to be sure, but does it feel like that to you people too? If yes, does anyone know how are the sales of this manga back in Japan?
