For anyone want to drop this, just one advice. Please bear with it. I have finished the novel. I know the beginning is unbearable. But it will worth your wait. It's the same author of "The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mobs". https://mangadex.org/title/28c77530...4/otomege-sekai-wa-mob-ni-kibishii-sekai-desu
So the story will interesting. I guarantee it. Get over the first arc. Wait until Lyle got hist first "Growth". You will see.
And once Shannon is brought in, we'll have another cast member with the same mental age as Lyle, similar trauma, and and a wonderful sibling style of relationship
At some point you just have to put it down to poor editing and a poor adaptation. We're on the 11th chapter and ONLY starting to get past the warm up. True, in the LN it took a good chunk of the first volume to get to this point, but for a presumably monthly release schedule, we're talking nearly a year before the MC gets his training wheels.
There are some LNs that deserve to have a 1:1 adaptation, but this is not one of them. The hook needs to have been set a long time ago, they can deal with the chronological events leading up to the glow up with flashbacks or some other story telling device.
That said for those who have lasted to this point, we're just before things actually start
The old farts will finally realise that they have been absolute total dicks. Lyle doesn't remember a thing before his tenth birthday, and since that point he's been completely neglected. Granted he's been given food and shelter, but that's about it. His education, stopped. No one speaks to him. The entire household has effectively functioned as if he didn't exist. It's actually a wonder that he hasn't turned completely feral and can string together a coherent sentence. Then all of a sudden, his little sister near murders him, his parents and the rest of the household calls him a disappointment and throws him out of the house. And the cherry on top of that, his ancestors join in on the emotional beat downs and he can't escape it. This is while he's being constantly reminded that his former fiancee, who for some reason insists on sticking by him, has liquidated her dowery to provide funds for them to live.
With that in mind, yes, they've been completely unreasonable blasting him at every mistake he's made because he doesn't know any better. Literally. Grab a ten year old who hasn't been schooled and toss them out into the wild world with only a small bag of change and the clothes on their back and see if they can function as an independant adult. Meanwhile those crusty old farts belittle their descendent from on high with their full lives of experience without trying to get a better picture of what is going on. Seriously, they haven't even questioned HOW Lyle is in this situation in the first place and it's only when Lyle is completely emotionally broken down that they find out how shitty his situation is.
The First finally relents and grants access to the first stage of his arte, which allows Lyle to get a general buff to his stats. Most critically, it gives him enough headroom in terms of mana to use the artes of his other ancestors and he's able to use multiple artes simultaneously. The instant results are impressive to say the least given that without access to an heirloom Jewel that allows for the inheritence of artes, most people do not have more than their own self-developed arte, if they manifest one in the first place.
The ancestors also find out that they've made a very grave misunderstanding when it comes to Lyle's capabilities. All this time, they've expected him to have gone through several "growths" which are effectively level ups. Pre and post growth are incomparable in terms of the improvements in general ability and stats. Lyle, hasn't gone through a single growth and yet has the combat proficiency of a veteran adventurer and the magical prowess exceeding that even though the latter is further handicapped with nearly no mana to use magic. Without any artes
that's all fine and dandy. but what i wanna know, does he finally snap at them? verbally, for being completely useless, no, even more then useless, actual parasites on his mana pool?
Not gonna lie, First has a point there. There is a goddamn line between being sensible and pussying out while crying about it, and our MC is deep in the latter category right now. Of course it's not MC's fault he turned out this way, but it's high time he broke out of it before he becomes the MC in an NTR series.
Telling him he is a stain on the family name for not having balls is different from telling him he is a stain for not having talent.
