I didn't look into it too deeply. It used to work directly with my card until recently too, but when I registered a new one normal check out wouldn't go though.That guide's a good idea, I've thought about making something like that but never got around to it, so props to you for doing that
Though I did want to say Bookwalker isn't 100% locking down credit cards from outside of Japan (source: me, mine still works). But that also could be because of several other reasons, like:
- I made my account on bookwalker.jp before I got the English app for my phone
- maybe at some point they just stopped accepting new cards and mine still works because it already got saved on file?
- I also have bought books from the website while VPN-ing through a Japan IP, so that might have put me on some sort of okay list because the card still works even when I'm not doing that
Either way, I do want to co-sign that buying JP digital manga is basically the only good way to keep manga titles going, because the publishers don't really give a flying flip about how any other localizations are going
I just tried topping up from mine and it worked, funny enough I made my account to buy AoT chapters ages ago and can't remember if it was made with VPN in Japan or not. VPNing to Japan now worked for topping up even on a UK credit card.Though I did want to say Bookwalker isn't 100% locking down credit cards from outside of Japan (source: me, mine still works). I've fixed the spelling errors. Thank you for pointing them out I really appreciate it.Personally, I really appreciate:
Thanks for your work so far, and thanks for tackling this project.
- Your solo effort and the reason for picking it up.
- That guide at the end, because it never occurred to me that the stupid coins would be paypal-able. I just bought my first JP digital this week for a similar reason, and wound up doing it through Comic Seymour (cmoa.jp) because you can skip the whole coins thing and just buy volumes via PayPal.
- The peek behind the curtain and your thoughts on what you've learned along the way, because that stuff evaporates quickly as it all becomes second nature anyway, assuming this is like any other skill I've learned.
- The fact that you're making MTL readable, which takes so much more effort than just already knowing Japanese.
pg.7 payed -> paid
pg.10 lyell -> Lyle
pg.14 innogural -> inaugural
pg.16 lyell -> Lyle
I wonder if there's any reason so many sites are blocking foreign payment methods? It seems kinda weird to encourage people NOT to payI didn't look into it too deeply. It used to work directly with my card until recently too, but when I registered a new one normal check out wouldn't go though.
So I just assumed Bookwalker was also cracking down on credit cards outside of Japan like Fantia, Fanbox ect...
If I was having a some trouble checking out then I figured that might be a huge hurdle to anyone with a casual interest to get around by themselves.
Bro i can't thank you enough for the work you're doing I really love this manga I enjoy the time I spend on this mangaI picked Seventh up as my first typesetting project because nobody else was translating and I figured there was nothing stopping me from doing it myself. Since then I've learned a little from the tons of mistakes I've made. So I went back and re-typeset the speech bubbles from ch 1.2 to the most recent to try and make it a bit more presentable and easier to read, any feedback or tips would be greatly appreciated and I'll see what I can do
When it comes to what I did. I've added some volume release changes, ironed out the spelling errors I managed to catch, tried to fix awkward translations and phrasing, increased text size and lastly changed out fonts (I got sick of looking at MangaTemple for the ancestors and decided to switch them to MarianChurchland while changing the main font for everyone else from WildWords to AskForMercy since I think it looks a little nicer and fits in bubbles better) sorry if the sudden font changes come across as jarring moving forward to anyone who cares about that stuff.
